Students created ink and watercolor illustrations that utilized a diagram format to tell the scientific story of something in our world with a focus on variety and whimsy. After identifying a scientific topic they were interested in, students found a book in the library and utilized a diagram from the book as a reference for a reinvented artwork. The purpose of this lesson is to demonstrate the power of art to intrigue and engage an audience for a specific purpose – in this case, the viewers education on a scientific topic.
